play on an old title (the Devil and Daniel Webster) has Paul as
a conquistador gazing across the Grand Canyon. The Devil, dressed
as a Hidalgo, advises him to continue. The golden cities of Cibola
are only a little further! Meanwhile, the gouging of coal from the
Earth and the burning of it for electricity continue. |
